Balar Illam

January 1, 2013

With the start of New Year 2013, ARTHAM has moved forward by lending hands to educate children in Balar Illam on January 1. Education should be substantial and is a continuous process. To help the students of Balar Illam with their education, ARTHAM has decided to support the home continuously and visit the home every month.

Balar illam, a home for girl students (Class 1st -12th), is located at Thanakankulam, Madurai, consisting of nearly 80 students. It was inaugurated by PTR family with the aim to educate the poor girl children coming from the nearby villages of Madurai. The students in the orphanage are taken immense care and are provided with good education in Seethalakshmi Govt. Hr. Sec. School opposite to Balar illam. They are brought up with high discipline and good qualities.

There had been few camps conducted in the home like drawing camp, martial art classes, and yoga. Students have utilized this opportunity to display their talents and have won prizes in district level competitions. Those students were brought up in the Tamil medium curriculum and find it hard to come up with English Grammar and few topics of Mathematics.

We, the ARTHAM members Dhanalakshmi, Kalai arasi, Sowndharya, Kamala, and Yogesh under the backing of Sivakumaran decided to guide the students on Sentence pattern, transformation on sentences in English Grammar and Trigonometry, Differential calculus in Mathematics. The participation of the students was extraordinary. The interest and involvement they showed were remarkable. They really proved to be the promising future of our country. Distributed sweets at last to the students to mark the start of New year.

They happily, enthusiastically spent time with us and they never showed the feeling of being deprived of something at any point of time. We were able learn a lot from them.
